The National Post and Telecom Agency Regulations and General Advice on exemption from the license obligation for certain radio transmitters - 07-1828 - 8 February 2007

08/02/2007

Under the Electronic Communications Act (2003:389), the use of radio transmitters in Sweden is subject to a license requirement. The Post National and Telecoms Agency may issue regulations to exempt certain radio transmitters from the license obligation. The present draft regulations are the result of a comprehensive review and contain a clear description of radio interfaces for license exempt equipment. Where a provision implements an EU or other international decision or recommendation, the provision should adhere to the wording of the international document. References to harmonized standards are provided in additional non-binding general advice, since standards are not mandatory under community law (Directive 99/5/EC). The draft regulations contain several new license exemptions, e.g. UWB equipment, hearing aids and social alarms, medical telemetry and tank level probing radars. Also, some obsolete exemption provisions are removed. A large number of editorial adjustments are proposed.
