EU conference on Resilient Electronic Communications

The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency, PTS, will hold an international conference entitled "Resilient Electronic Communications – A Multistakeholder Challenge". The conference will discuss three areas: regulatory policy, public-private partnerships and government CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) policy.

Sweden will hold the EU Presidency for the last six months of 2009. The conference will be held on 5 November at Folkets Hus in Stockholm, back to back with Sweden’s premier Internet community event, "Internetdagarna" [Internet Days]. Preparatory presentations will be held during this event in the afternoon of 4 November. PTS will continually update its website eu2009.pts.se with information about the conference.

International exchange of experiences

The purpose of the conference is for international representatives of the business sector and public administration to exchange their experiences related to initiatives to meet the challengesof creating a robust and secure information society. Two highly relevant areas during the conference will be the state of play with regard to the review of the regulatory framework and the EU network and information security policy. Participants should come away from the conference with an insight into the nature of the challenges, the problems associated with them and an awareness of good practice and business models and the success factors that characterise them. They will also have had good opportunities to make new contacts.

Preparatory presentations

PTS will hold preparatory presentations in the afternoon of 4 November. These presentations will focus on how EU network and information security policy is set and the status of current policy affairs.
