Innovation competitions

Through PTS’s innovation competitions, innovative companies, researchers and organisations are afforded an opportunity to apply for financing for service and product development – and also research projects and studies – within electronic communications and postal services.

It is hoped that the innovation competitions can help make possible the information and communication solutions of tomorrow.

This is how it works

PTS organises an innovation competition about twice a year. Anyone can apply to the innovation competition. PTS then selects a number of proposals that will go through to the first project phase. PTS has a council of expert advisors available to help in making the best selection possible. This council of experts comprises people qualified within a number of different areas.

The projects chosen are allowed to conduct a preliminary study. The aim is to ensure that the preconditions are good for being able to conduct the project in the right way and with the desired results. After PTS has evaluated the various preliminary studies, the Agency selects those projects that are assessed as having the best chances of producing useful services that will work in the market.

The maximum funding that an individual project may be granted corresponds to EUR 200,000.

It is intended that the project should last for no more than one to two years. After this, the objective is for the project to have produced services that are being offered on the market.

PTS does not make any claims on the results generated by the project. The rights to the results belong to those people who were granted financing.
Each innovation competition is implemented within a theme. Examples of themes include ‘Work and education’ and ‘Culture and leisure’.

Design for All

‘Design for All’ represents an important benchmark in PTS’s work for accessible communications. This means that society shall be accessible for as many people as possible from the outset. If this is done, not as many specific solutions adapted to specific target groups will be required within, for instance, electronic communications.
In the innovation competitions, PTS specifically seeks proposals for communications solutions that can be used by as many people as possible.
