Services

PTS has been assigned by th Swedish Government to ensure that important services within electronic communications and the postal sector are available for people with disabilities. The following services have been procured by PTS.

Free directory enquiry service 118 400

This service means that people with disabilities who cannot use the printed telephone directory, without charge and around the clock, can call the directory enquiry service. This free service also includes forwarding to the desired number.

Relay services for text telephony

Through the relay service for calls between a textphone and an ordinary telephone, opportunities are enhanced for people who are deaf, have a hearing impairment or a speech impairment to communicate with those sections of society that cannot be reached via a textphone. It is possible to send text messages (SMS) and telefacsimiles directly from a textphone via the Relay Service for Text Telephony. This service is also available via an Internet portal, which means that a textphone is no longer needed to call to the service.

Relay Service for Video Telephony

This service means that a sign language interpreter relays calls or distance interprets between sign language and speech. The person who knows sign language uses a videophone (ISDN, IP-based or 3G) while the person who can hear uses an ordinary telephone. Both the user and the hearing person can contact the Relay Service.

Teletal

This service means that an interpreter, who can interpret speech that is difficult to understand, interprets or provides support in the form of clarifications, memory support and assistance with taking notes during a telephone call. This call is made on an ordinary telephone and is implemented as a three-party call.

Fruktträdet: communication via databases for people who are deaf-blind

This service means that users, via two different databases, can participate in discussion groups, gather information and also send and receive e-mail. The database offers information that is compiled in a format that can be accessed rather easily by people who are deaf-blind or have a serious visual impairment.

Freepost conveyance of dispatch of literature for the blind

This service means that libraries, certain organisations and people who are blind, have a visual impairment or a reading disability and others may send dispatch of literature for the blind freepost. Literature for the blind mainly means talking newspapers, talking books and Braille.

Extended rural postman service for elderly people and people with disabilities in sparsely populated areas

This service is directed towards people who owing to age or disability are unable to collect their post from the post box at, for example, a postbox point through the ordinary rural postman service. Extended post and counter services mean that the rural postman route is extended to the property boundary/residential building of the older person or person with disability.
