The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) has announced three winners in its eleventh innovation competition. The theme was “smarter e-commerce” and the winning projects will share the funding of approximately SEK 4 million.

The new National Post and Telecom Agency's (PTS) Innovation Competition is now underway, with the theme "Active leisure time." Companies and other organisations have the chance to win up to SEK 1.7 million per project. The aim is to make it easier and more enjoyable to practise various leisure activities. The activities included may be physical, social or mental activities.

The number of high-speed broadband subscriptions continues to increase, as well as the demand for services accessed via the Internet, such as IPTV and IP-telephony. This is shown by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority’s report Swedish Telecommunications Market for the first half-year 2015.

Of the 14.4 million mobile subscriptions at the end of 2014, 4 million have used 4G services, which is an increase of 2.5 million subscriptions. This is one of the findings of the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency's (PTS) report, Swedish Telecom Market 2014, which outlines the trends in the telecoms market last year.

4G networks now cover an increasingly large proportion of Sweden. In autumn 2014, 60% of the surface area had 4G network coverage that provides approximately 10 Mbit/s broadband speed. This is an increase of almost 20 percentage points, according to the annual PTS survey of mobile network expansion.

The number of broadband subscribers of 100Mbit/s or more continued to grow significantly in 2013. This is evident from the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority’s (PTS) report The Swedish Telecommunications Market 2013, which describes development over the last year of the telecommunications market.

In 2013, as many as 72 per cent of Swedish households and businesses had access to broadband above 30 Mbps. This means that the EU broadband targets are well on their way to being met, as shown in the 2013 broadband survey completed by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS).
