Wireless audio transmission
The use of wireless microphones and hearing aids require in some cases license from PTS.
In the same way as the use of other radio transmitters in Sweden, a license is required for wireless audio transmission under the Electronic Communications Act. There are however exceptions where license is not required. What applies to different frequencies can be read in the following table.
Please note that the frequency band 1785-1805 MHz is now available for wireless audio transmission and that the frequency band 694-790 MHz will no longer be available after 2017-12-31, see table below. Regarding the band 694-790 MHz we advise against new purchase of equipment using that band since the use is not allowed after 2017-12-31.

Information on the use of the frequency bands that are primarily used for digital broadcasting services
The use of wireless audio transmission in the broadcasting bands 174-240 and the 470-694 MHz takes place at the frequencies in the band which is not used by any broadcaster or digital audio radio transmitters in the geographical area, the so-called "white space".
Avoid new purchases of wireless microphones and hearing aids equipment using 694-790 MHz, because the use from 1 January 2018 is illegal in this frequency band.
The reduction in the allocation for wireless microphones and hearing aids is a consequence of a decision from the Government concerning the band 694-790 MHz.
The use of wireless microphones and assistive listening devices is however possible in several other frequency bands. Note that the frequency band 1785-1805 MHz was recently designated for wireless audio transmission under EU Commission decision (implementing decisions on 1 September 2014 on harmonized technical conditions for the radio spectrum used by wireless PMSE-audio equipment in the Union).
