Dialogue on Spectrum Needs for Satellite D2D

In 2025, the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) will introduce a new theme in its technical forum, focusing on future spectrum usage needs—specifically for Direct-to-Device (D2D) satellite communication services. If you would like to contribute with information regarding your spectrum needs over a 5 to 15-year horizon, please contact us.

The forum's focus in 2025 is to gain a clearer understanding of the industry's spectrum requirements for satellite D2D communication services and future service offerings. Satellite D2D communication is a technology that enables direct connectivity between satellites and end-user terminals, such as mobile phones. The questions we would like your organization to address are:

• What are your future spectrum needs for D2D satellite communication services? Please describe the frequency bands and the amount of spectrum you anticipate needing over a 5 to 15-year period.

• Do you have a need for changed regulation to enable an effective service offering? We would like to hear your view on regulatory issues that may impact your service offering.

• What services do you expect to offer in Sweden within each frequency band? Please outline the services you plan to provide in Sweden within the respective frequency bands.
