The auction of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band starts today
Today the auction to assign licences to use radio transmitters in parts of the 1800 MHz band starts. The assignment aims to achieve an efficient and secure use of frequencies that contributes to the continued digitalization of Sweden.
The auction starts today and is estimated to last up to ten working days, but it can last longer. PTS will not inform about approved bidders before the auction has closed.
About the frequency bands
PTS shall assign national block licences in parts of the 1800 MHz band. The licences shall be assigned well before the current licences expires.
The licences will be valid from 2028 to 2054, and the licence conditions are designed to, in the long term, enable contiguous spectrum in the entire 1800 MHz band and contribute to the efficient use of frequencies. This is achieved by making the condition regarding the placement of licence holders' spectrum in the band valid for a duration of 10 years, so that PTS can make a new assessment of this condition in the next allocation of the 1800 MHz band (referring to licences expiring 31 December 2037).
The assignment aims to achieve an efficient and secure use of frequencies that contributes to the continued technology development and digitalization of Sweden.
Follow the progress of the auction
During the main part of the auction, after each concluded auction day, information on the number of completed clock rounds and the sum of the price for all blocks included in the auction will be published on PTS web site.
