The auctions of spectrum in the 3.5 GHz and 2.3 GHz bands start today
Today the auctions to assign licences for the use of radio transmitters in the 3.5 GHz and 2.3GHz bands start. Follow the progress at PTS web site, at the end of each auction day.
The licences are attractive for increasing capacity for mobile broadband services and are expected to be central for 5G development in Sweden.
The auction in the 3.5 GHz band will start today and will, when finished, be followed by the 2.3 GHz auction. The 3.5 GHz band comprises in total 320 MHz, divided into a maximum of 15 national licences. The 2.3 GHz band comprises 80 MHz, a maximum of 8 national licences.
The auction format is a clock auction conducted in several bidding rounds over the Internet. PTS considers that the auction will take approximately two to ten working days, but it may take longer.
