The auction of spectrum in the 900 MHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands start today

Today the auction to assign licences to use radio transmitters in the 900 MHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands start. The assignment aims at an efficient and secure use of frequencies that contributes to the continued digitalization of Sweden.

The auction starts today and is estimated to last up to ten working days, but it can last longer. PTS will not inform about approved bidders before the auction has ended.

About the frequency bands

PTS shall assign national block licences in the 900 MHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands. The licences shall be assigned well in advance before the current licences expires. The purpose of the assignment is to enable continued digitalization and technology development, to contribute to the mobility objective of the Government´s broadband strategy by deploying new masts along roads and railways and in other areas where people normally find themselves.

The assignment aims at an efficient and secure use of frequencies that contributes to the continued digitalization of Sweden.

Follow the progress of the auction

After each concluded auction day, during the main part of the auction, information on the number of completed bidding rounds and the sum of the price for all blocks included in the auction will be published on PTS web site. Click here to go to the website.
